Barcelona Airport to Tossa de Mar and Blanes by Private Car

Two very different neighbours
Blanes marks the start of the Costa Brava with a long sandy beach, the Sa Palomera rock and the Marimurtra botanical garden. Tossa de Mar, twelve kilometres further north, is quieter and framed by the walled Vila Vella above the bay. Both sit 85 to 100 km from Barcelona Airport, which is 1 hour 5 minutes to Blanes and around 1 hour 20 to Tossa in normal traffic.
The GI-682 coast road
The scenic route from Lloret to Tossa is beautiful and slow, with continuous bends and few places to stop. Coaches use it in summer, which is one reason scheduled journeys take so much longer than the map suggests. Our drivers take the motorway to Lloret and only use the coast road for the final stretch, keeping the journey comfortable for passengers prone to travel sickness.
Arriving in the old town
Streets inside Tossa's old quarter are pedestrianised in summer. We drop as close as vehicles are allowed, usually a minute or two from the hotel entrance, and the driver helps with cases to the door.
Scheduled transport versus a private car
Doing it by public transport means the Aerobús or train into Barcelona, a regional train to Blanes station, then a local bus to the town or on to Tossa: three legs, two ticket queues and roughly three hours with luggage. A private transfer is a single vehicle at a price fixed before you fly, and for two or more travellers the cost gap almost disappears.
