Barcelona Airport Transfers with Child Seats and Big Luggage

Child seat rules in Spain, how many suitcases really fit in each vehicle, and how to move golf bags, ski gear, bikes and pushchairs from Barcelona Airport without drama.

Barcelona Airport Transfers with Child Seats and Big Luggage

The problem nobody plans for

Most transfer bookings go wrong for one of two reasons: the vehicle is too small for the luggage, or there is no legal seat for a small child. Both are solved in thirty seconds at booking and are almost impossible to solve at the kerb outside Terminal 1. This guide sets out what fits where, so your Barcelona airport transfer is the boring part of the trip.

Child seats and Spanish law

In Spain children under 135 cm must use an approved restraint appropriate to their height and weight, and they generally travel in the rear seats. We can provide infant seats and booster seats when you request them at the time of booking — tell us each child's age and approximate height and weight so the correct seat is fitted before we leave the depot. Bringing your own seat is also fine; it travels free in the boot on the return leg if you prefer.

How much luggage each vehicle really takes

Our Economy Sedan carries up to 3 passengers and 3 suitcases. The Comfort SUV takes up to 4 passengers and 4 large suitcases. The Premium Minivan takes up to 7 passengers and 7 suitcases. Those numbers assume standard hold cases; count a pushchair, a cabin bag stack or a car seat as an extra case when you choose. If you are on the limit, book the next size up — it costs less than a second vehicle at arrivals.

Golf clubs, skis, surfboards and bikes

Oversized items need to be declared in advance because they change the vehicle we send. Golf travel bags and ski bags usually fit in the minivan alongside a reduced number of suitcases; boxed bicycles and long boards depend on the exact dimensions, so send us the measurements and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.

Arrivals with children: the practical bit

Ask for a meet and greet inside arrivals so nobody has to find a car park with a toddler in tow, keep snacks and water in a cabin bag rather than the hold, and give the driver your hotel's exact entrance if it is on a pedestrian street. Long runs to the Costa Dorada or Costa Brava can include a short comfort stop if you ask when booking. Send your passenger list, luggage count and children's ages on WhatsApp and we will confirm the right vehicle at a fixed price.

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide infant and booster seats?

Yes, on request when you book. Tell us each child's age, height and weight so the right seat is fitted.

How many suitcases fit in the minivan?

Up to seven standard hold suitcases with seven passengers. Pushchairs and sports bags count as additional items.

Can you carry golf bags or skis?

Usually yes in the minivan, but declare them when booking so we send a vehicle with the space.

Is there an extra charge for a pushchair?

No, but it takes the space of a suitcase, so include it in your luggage count when you book.
