Barcelona and Costa Dorada with Kids: What Families Should Know
Child seats, beach choices, nap-friendly travel times and the theme parks that are worth the drive.

Child seats are the law, not an extra
In Spain children under 135 cm must travel in an approved restraint. We provide baby seats, toddler seats and boosters free of charge — just tell us ages and heights when you book so the right ones are fitted before you land.
Pick the right coast
The Costa Dorada around Salou and Cambrils has wide, shallow, sandy beaches and PortAventura nearby. The Costa Brava is prettier but rockier, with steps down to most coves — harder work with a pushchair.
Travel around the nap
A 70-minute motorway run to Salou is far easier at 13:00 than at 18:00. If you can pick your slot, aim for the start of a nap and ask the driver to keep one stop in reserve.
