Barcelona Airport Meet and Greet: How It Works
Where the driver stands in T1 and T2, what happens if you are delayed, and why meet and greet turns a Barcelona airport transfer into the easiest part of the trip.

What meet and greet really means
Meet and greet is the difference between looking for your transport and being found by it. Instead of a pin on a map in a car park you have never seen, a driver stands inside the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name, takes your suitcases, and walks you to a car that is already parked and paid for at a fixed price. For a Barcelona airport transfer it removes the three things that go wrong most often for visitors: not knowing where to go, not knowing who to look for, and not knowing what it will cost.
Terminal 1: where your driver will be
Terminal 1 handles most long-haul and full-service flights and is a single large building on several levels. After passport control and baggage reclaim you exit into the arrivals hall on floor 0. Your driver waits directly by that exit, in the open area facing the sliding doors, holding a printed sign with your name and our company name. It is the first thing you see once you clear the barrier, and there is no need to change level, cross a road or find a car park. If your group splits at baggage reclaim, the driver simply waits — the free waiting window is 60 minutes from landing.
If you have no checked luggage
Passengers travelling with cabin bags only often reach arrivals ten to fifteen minutes after landing, ahead of the scheduled meeting time. Send a quick WhatsApp when you land; in most cases the driver is already in position and you leave earlier than planned.
Terminal 2: the module makes the difference
Terminal 2 is older, lower and split into modules A, B and C, which is why passengers occasionally end up waiting one building away from their driver. The meeting point is outside the arrivals door of your specific module, and we confirm which one in your booking message based on your flight number and airline. If your aircraft is bussed to a remote stand, tell us on WhatsApp; we adjust rather than guess. T2 is also where the R2 Nord train station sits, so the pavement can be busy — the sign with your name is deliberately large.
Flight monitoring: the part that happens without you
When you give us your flight number, the arrival is tracked automatically. If the aircraft is an hour late out of London, Dublin or New York, the pick-up moves with it and nobody has to be told. If you land early, the driver is brought forward. This is the practical reason a booked transfer beats a fixed appointment with a private car you arranged by email weeks ago: the schedule follows the aircraft, not the original plan. Delays never generate a surcharge, and there is no rebooking to negotiate at 01:00.
What happens if you cannot find the driver
It almost never happens, and when it does the fix is thirty seconds long. Before your flight you receive the driver's name, mobile number and a photograph of the meeting point. If the hall is crowded, send a WhatsApp message or call directly; the driver answers in English or Spanish and walks to you. Our office line stays open around your arrival window, so there is always a second contact. Nobody is ever left standing in arrivals wondering whether the booking exists.
Meet and greet for families and older travellers
The value of being met rises sharply with the number of people who cannot carry their own bag. Parents arriving with a toddler, a pushchair and two suitcases benefit from a driver who takes the luggage and has the child seats already fitted. Older passengers, or anyone with reduced mobility, avoid the long walk to the taxi rank and the step down into an unknown vehicle. If someone in your party needs extra assistance or is travelling with a folding wheelchair, tell us in advance — folding wheelchairs travel free and we allow extra time.
Business arrivals and executive transfers
For corporate travel the sign can carry a company name instead of a personal one, which is what most clients prefer when collecting a visiting director, a client delegation or a speaker arriving for a congress at Fira Barcelona or Gran Via. We can meet several passengers on different flights and hold them in one vehicle, or send separate cars with a single invoice. Quiet, clean vehicles, bottled water and a driver who does not talk unless spoken to are the default rather than an upgrade.
Departures: meet and greet in reverse
Going back to the airport deserves the same planning. We recommend leaving the city three hours before a long-haul departure and two and a half hours in July and August, when security queues at T1 grow. Your driver arrives at the hotel or apartment door at the agreed time, calls if the street is difficult to park on, and drops you at the correct departures level for your airline. If you booked the arrival with us, we already know the vehicle size and child seats you need, and the return is confirmed in the same WhatsApp conversation.
What to send us when you book
Five details are enough: flight number, arrival date and time, destination address, number of passengers and suitcases, and the ages or heights of any children. Add anything unusual — skis, a bicycle box, a second stop at a supermarket, an extra hour in the city — and we will quote it inside the same fixed price. You will have written confirmation before you fly, and the meeting point in your pocket when you land.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the driver wait at Barcelona Airport T1?
In the arrivals hall on floor 0, directly by the exit from baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. You do not need to change level or leave the terminal.
Is meet and greet included in the price?
Yes. Meet and greet, the name sign, luggage help, flight monitoring and 60 minutes of free waiting are all included in the fixed price we quote.
How long will the driver wait if I am delayed inside the airport?
Waiting is free for 60 minutes after your flight lands, which covers passport control and slow baggage delivery. If you are held longer, message us and we stay — we agree any extra time with you first.
Can the sign show my company name?
Yes. Tell us the exact wording when booking and the driver will display your company name, a guest name or both.
What if I land at Terminal 2 instead of Terminal 1?
We assign the meeting point from your flight number, so the driver goes to the correct module of T2. If your terminal changes at the last minute, one WhatsApp message is enough to move him.
