One airport, two very different coastlines
Alicante–Elche Airport sits almost exactly in the middle of the Costa Blanca. Head north and you reach Benidorm in 50 minutes, Altea and Calpe in about an hour, and the quieter capes of Jávea and Dénia in an hour and a quarter. Head south and Torrevieja is 45 minutes away, with the Orihuela Costa urbanisations five to ten minutes further. Knowing which direction your resort lies in is the single most useful thing when planning arrival day.
Why arrivals gets slow in July and August
Alicante handles a huge share of northern European charter traffic, so several wide-body arrivals can land within minutes of each other. Public transport thins out after 23:00 and the taxi rank forms a long single queue in high season. A pre-booked private transfer means a driver is already waiting in arrivals with a name sign, and the price does not change because the queue was long.
Urbanisations and gated resorts
Much of Orihuela Costa, Cabo Roig and the hills above Calpe is made up of gated urbanisations where street names repeat. Send the full address, block and gate code on WhatsApp and the driver takes you to the door rather than the nearest roundabout.
