About Torrevieja
Torrevieja grew from a salt town into the southern Costa Blanca's biggest resort, and the salt is still there: the Laguna Rosa at La Mata turns bright pink in summer and the microclimate it creates is one of the healthiest in Europe according to the WHO. The town itself is straightforward and affordable — a 5 km promenade, small coves at Cabo Cervera, a busy Friday market and a large international community. Alicante airport is 45 km north, about 35 minutes by motorway.

Travel tips
- The lagoon is a protected salt works — view it from the marked paths, swimming is not allowed.
- Urbanisations like Torreta, La Siesta and Los Balcones are inland and poorly served by buses at night.
- Summer weekends bring heavy traffic on the N-332 through the centre; the AP-7 is faster from the airport.
