About Torremolinos
Torremolinos invented the Costa del Sol package holiday in the 1960s and has aged into something more interesting: the fishing quarter of La Carihuela still grills sardines on the sand, Calle San Miguel handles the shopping, and Playamar and Bajondillo give seven kilometres of Blue Flag beach. It is the closest resort to Málaga airport — barely 13 km — which makes it the easiest late-night landing on the coast.

Travel tips
- The centre sits on a cliff above the beach; the lift at Bajondillo saves a 200-step climb.
- Aircraft approach over the eastern beaches — pick a La Carihuela hotel if noise bothers you.
- Being 10 minutes from the airport means transfers are cheap, but book ahead in Semana Santa.
