About Nerja
Nerja closes the eastern end of the Costa del Sol where the Sierra Almijara meets the sea, and the cliffs give it a completely different coastline: small coves like Calahonda and Burriana instead of endless sand. The Balcón de Europa juts out over the water at the heart of the old town, and the Cuevas de Nerja a few kilometres inland hold cave paintings and a concert hall of stalactites. Málaga airport is 65 km west, about 55 minutes.

Travel tips
- Old-town streets are narrow and often pedestrian; Plaza de los Cangrejos works best for pick-ups.
- Combine Nerja with Frigiliana in one trip — the two are ten minutes apart.
- The Chíllar river walk means wading; take shoes you can soak.
