Barcelona Airport to the City Centre: Every Option Compared
Aerobús, metro L9, train, taxi or private transfer — real journey times, prices and when each one actually makes sense.
The five ways into town
El Prat sits 15 km from Plaça de Catalunya and offers five realistic options. The Aerobús runs every 5–10 minutes from both terminals to Plaça Catalunya in about 35 minutes. Metro L9 Sud connects to the wider network but needs a special airport ticket and two changes for most hotels. The R2 Nord train only serves T2 and runs every 30 minutes. Taxis queue outside both terminals. Private transfers meet you inside arrivals.
What each one really costs
The Aerobús is around €7.25 per person one way, so a family of four pays close to €29 and still needs to reach the hotel. A metered taxi typically ends between €40 and €55 with airport and luggage supplements. A private transfer with us starts at €45 for the whole vehicle, door to door, with the price fixed before you fly.
When public transport is the wrong choice
Late-night arrivals, families with pushchairs, cruise passengers with hold luggage, and anyone staying in the Gothic Quarter or up in Gràcia will spend longer dragging bags than travelling. Those are exactly the cases where a fixed-price private car pays for itself in comfort and time.
